Unangenehme Gefühle 1

Organized by Sonja Cvitkovic and Megan Francis Sullivan.

"Unangenehme Gefühle 1" is a two-days symposium about feelings which took place on the 3rd and 4th of September 2016 at Acud Studio in Berlin.

The symposium "Unangenehme Gefühle" revolves around difference, unruliness, contradiction, and fragmentation as something to address instead of suppress. The event itself borrows the structure of the symposium – the speaker, the audience, the moderator, and the setting – as a potential performative and communicative site. It includes panels, screenings, exhibition and performances with various personalities from the field of art. The symposium was followed by a publication co-produced by Black Palm, Birke Verlag and S*I*G Verlag - Berlin.

Participants and contributions by: Aisha Butt, Sonja Cvitkovic, Kate Dervishi, Helmut Draxler, Isabel Fein, Heike-Karin Föll, Fiona Mc Govern, Ana-Maria Hadji-Culea, Amanda Holmes, Amy Lien & Enzo Camacho, Inka Meißner, Michaela Meise, Birgit Megerle, Cornelia Kastelan, Josephine Pryde and Megan Francis Sullivan.

Unangenehme Gefühle 2 - Lügen - Lies

A conversation piece organized by Sonja Cvitkovic and Megan Francis Sullivan.

The conversation piece and took place for the first time in January 2019 within Annette Kelm's exhibition "Tomato Target" at Kunsthalle Wien and was followed by a performance at Friends with Books at Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart in Berlin.

Both performances and publication address the determinability of truth and lies, examining the influence of individual experience. Our brain makes no difference between lived and constructed experience and often our feelings regulate the conveyance of information. Today, since 'falsity' has been updated within a new reality of alternative facts, the challenge is precisely to make the multidimensionality of truth perceptible. The symposium was followed by a publication co-produced by Black Palm, Birke Verlag and S*I*G Verlag - Berlin.
